Large scale perturbations in the open universe.

چکیده
When considering perturbations in an open (Ω0 < 1) universe, cosmologists retain only sub-curvature modes (defined as eigenfunctions of the Laplacian whose eigenvalue is less than −1 in units of the curvature scale, in contrast with the super-curvature modes whose eigenvalue is between −1 and 0). Mathematicians have known for almost half a century that all modes must be included to generate the most general homogeneous Gaussian random field, despite the fact that any square integrable function can be generated using only the sub-curvature modes. The former mathematical object, not the latter, is the relevant one for physical applications. The mathematics is here explained in a language accessible to physicists. Then it is pointed out that if the perturbations originate as a vacuum fluctuation of a scalar field there will be no super-curvature modes in nature. Finally the effect on the cmb of any super-curvature contribution is considered, which generalizes to Ω0 < 1 the analysis given by Grishchuk and Zeldovich in 1978. A formula is given, which is used to estimate the effect. In contrast with the case Ω0 = 1, the effect contributes to all multipoles, not just to the quadrupole. It is important to find out whether it has the same l dependence as the data, by evaluating the formula numerically.

The braneworld stability and large-scale correction in graphene like background
In this work, we consider a graphene-like background in braneworld scenario which is one of the interesting models in cosmology and theoretical physics. Indeed, this paper is an application of holography in condense matter. We use the geometric form of potential which help to obtain field equations and solve it to obtain the energy spectrum. In that case we calculate superpotential and energy d...
متن کاملCosmological CMBR dipole in open universes ?
The observed CMBR dipole is generally interpreted as a Doppler effect arising from the motion of the Earth relative to the CMBR frame. An alternative interpretation, proposed in the last years, is that the dipole results from ultra-large scale isocurvature perturbations. We examine this idea in the context of open cosmologies and show that the isocurvature interpretation is not valid in an open...
متن کاملEvolution of Scale-invariant Inhomogeneities in Standard Cosmology
It is shown that density fluctuations obey a scaling law in an open Friedmann universe. In a flat universe, the fluctuations are not scale-invariant. We compute the growth rate of adiabatic scale-invariant density fluctuations in flat, open and inflationary universes. We find that, given a sufficiently long time, the density perturbations decay away in the Einstein-de-Sitter universe. On the co...
متن کاملNew Constraint on Open Cold-Dark-Matter Models
We calculate the large-angle cross correlation between the cosmic-microwave-background temperature and the x-ray-background intensity expected in an open universe with cold dark matter (CDM) and a nearly scale-invariant spectrum of adiabatic density perturbations. Results are presented as a function of the nonrelativistic-matter density V0 and the x-ray bias bx for both an open universe and a f...

The measurements of CMB anisotropy have opened up a window for probing the global topol-ogy of the universe on length scales comparable to and beyond the Hubble radius. We have developed a new method for calculating the CMB anisotropy in models with nontrivial topol-ogy and apply it to open universe models with compact spatial topology. We conduct a Bayesian probability analysis for a selection...
